Academic Federal Credit Union's checking is free. There is no
minimum deposit requirement, no per check fee, no monthly fee
and no limit on the number of checks you can write per month.
The only associated fees are the cost of having your checks
printed with your name and address on them and fees for certifying
checks, returned checks, stop payments and transfers to cover
checks.
AFCU's checking earns you a monthly dividend. (See rates for
details.) Also you can apply for Share Draft Overdraft which
is a rotating line of credit to help you cover checks you have
written. (See loans for details.)

Our convenient VISA debit card is linked to your checking account as well as your savings account. You can use it to debit your checking account directly at a Point-Of-Sale location as well as getting cash with absolutely new fees from us.
You can withdraw funds up to $500 per day from any ATM machine with a VISA logo on it. The first five ATM withdrawals per month are free, thereafter there is a $.50 per transaction fee for ATM transactions only. Charges from other institutions may be incurred, read information on the machines before you access your account.
